No. Drop ArcPoints. Have no rounds and just have a standard arcade.

No. Drop ArcPoints. But rounds could last a month or so, then the scores are archived before being reset.

Keep ArcPoints and rounds and stop moaning about the difficulties you good-for-nothing piece of shit coder.

Reasons to keep:
They're leet and make the board unique.
They keep people coming back to the site.
Reasons to drop:
It's bloody difficult for me to code the bastards when a new version of the arcade software comes out (as happens relatively frequently).
A lot of people don't understand them and have a boo hoo when the round resets and they "lose" their scores.

Keep them! Those that don't read the thread about them are just f4g0rs! Maybe as soon as someone joins, a message is sent to them explaining about ArcPoints by the email address that they supplied?

Head to the less.

Yeah I was thinking about that too.
Looks like I'm going to have to code the bitch then

Lots of people would stop coming/play less if arcpoints were dropped. I wouldn't play half as much as I do now.

I recon either keep arcpoints, OR have an all time high score for each game, and a weekly or monthly high score to go with them... then it makes it extra special if you manage to get on the all time high scores

It's a good idea apart from the all-time high scores being the hard bit to code. ArcPoints is relatively easy (hence why I've already re-done it).

What could we use them on?
To answer your question... No, they're not useable.

I think its way to difficult to get onto the first page no matter how many high scores you get. Specially since there are people eg Kemo and Tempest that havnt played on the boards for half a year and they are still 4th and 5th..
The system to me at least is flawed

Hmm. That gives me an idea. Your points could decay by a certain percentage every week. That would make the people who don't play anymore drop off so it should make it easier for current players to get to the top.

Good idea Rob, but it'd be better to decay the points by a fixed amount, as people such as me and drifter would be losing more than we'd be gaining if it was % wise. The people with little score would hardly lose any points at all if it was % wise too.
Perhaps something like... if a user has:
< 500, they don't decrease.
501 - 2,000, they decrease by 50.
2001 - 10,000, they decrease by 150
10,001 - 50,000, they decrease by 500
50,001 - 200,000, they decrease by 1000
> 200,000, they decrease by 1500
1500 points is between 4 and 5 first place finishes with the current number of games.
